Line-up
The album's third, Turn Back, marked the return to the traditional sextet style of previous albums. It was a more ferocious, consistent effort with an edge that was more pronounced than Hydra. Its more punk-rock sound was a reflection of the maturation of the group and included drummer Bobby Kimball's improved ability on the drums and a more confident, mature vocal delivery by singer Joseph Williams. David Paich's keyboard work was also more sophisticated, sharper and less akin to previous recordings.
After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live performance in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs called Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records. The group released a new studio album just a few months after and embarked on a world tour to help promote the album.
